speaking about “My Kingdom for a Horse”
Scotland, 1585. Lord Warden Johnstone is leading a troop of his clansmen back home. Pursued by Lord Maxwell, a battle of survival is about to commence. Meanwhile, Lady Margaret and her son, James eagerly await, looking out over the battlements of Lochwood Castle.
The ensuing battle leads to a sequence of events that would reverberate down the ages through history. Referred to previously as border clans, The Border Reivers would be used throughout the world as mercenary soldiers because of their unrivalled fighting ability.
The theft of a horse by a band of Johnstones from Wamphray led to the Battle of Dryfe Sands, the disbandment of the border clans and their banishment to the colonies by King James VI of Scotland after he became King James I of England and Ireland in 1603. The kingdom was united, and all for the theft of a horse!

speaking about “Gone Outlaw”
DINAH HANCE is unfulfilled by her simple life on her family’s farm near Salina, Kansas, in 1883. She longs for excitement and adventure, but when a ghost from her past suddenly returns, she casts those dreams aside. Notorious outlaw SAL VALENTIN and his gang ride to the Hance homestead to lay low after a bank robbery goes wrong, and Dinah’s father takes up arms to protect his family. Sal kills him in cold blood, and Dinah vows to bring him to justice—for he is the same outlaw who killed her best friend ten years ago. Despite the protests of Salina’s marshal, she joins his posse, along with veteran bounty hunter JASPER LAWRENCE. Left behind during the bank robbery, gang member ENYETO is arrested, and JOSEPH GRAY returns to Abilene alone to rescue him. He sneaks into town under cover of darkness, springs Enyeto from jail, and they journey south toward the Neutral Strip to meet up with Sal. Enyeto’s experience makes him reconsider his decision to join the gang, and he voices his doubts to Joseph. Secretly, Joseph understands Enyeto’s reasoning. Sal’s lack of conscience and escalating brutality have brought his loyalty into question, but Joseph can’t imagine striking out on his own. He’s been with Sal since he was a boy, looking to him as a father figure after the War of Secession robbed him of his parents. The outlaw life is all he knows. Dinah loathes Joseph for leading Sal to her home, but when a sandstorm separates her from the posse and she’s bitten by a rattlesnake, Joseph saves her life and takes her to the gang’s nearby hideout. Two of the outlaws have abducted a doctor from a nearby town, desperate to help their younger brother who’s suffering from a gunshot wound. The doctor treats Dinah’s snakebite and offers spiritual guidance when Dinah falls into despair. Seeing Joseph’s softer side complicates Dinah’s feelings for him, and Joseph becomes torn between the gang and his attraction to her. After a gunfight between the gang and the posse leaves two outlaws dead, Dinah and the doctor try to escape but fail. Sal orders Joseph to kill Dinah to prove his loyalty, but Joseph can’t do it. He turns on the gang and kills one of his friends to save her. They flee with three of the outlaws close on their heels. Meanwhile, the rest of the gang confronts the remaining members of the marshal’s posse. Sal and two of his men are captured. Dinah and Joseph escape into the wilderness, and as they travel alone together, they slowly give in to their feelings for each other. But he’s hiding a dark secret—he’s the one who shot Dinah’s best friend ten years ago. Joseph knows he should tell her, but he can’t muster the courage. And Dinah refuses to let go of her quest for vengeance. When Joseph confesses that the gang buried half of the stolen money on her family’s land, Dinah is outraged. Fearing for her mother’s safety, she returns to the homestead, and Joseph goes with her, having decided to give the money back to the people of Abilene. A member of the gang gets there first and attempts to murder Dinah’s mother in retaliation for Joseph’s betrayal. Dinah arrives just in time and shoots the outlaw. She learns that Sal’s being held in Salina’s jail, and she goes to see for herself. Just when she thinks she’s gotten her revenge and can move on with her life, Sal reveals the terrible truth that Joseph is to blame for her friend’s death. Wrestling with tremendous guilt and rage, Dinah visits her friend’s grave. Lawrence follows her, but she rejects his company, thinking that he could never understand what she’s going through. Lawrence admits that the wife and daughter he’s previously spoken of are dead, and he blames himself for not being there to protect them. Since the war ended, he’s been seeking atonement by bringing criminals to justice. Dinah realizes that they have more in common than she ever imagined, and Lawrence tells her that he doesn’t want her to end up like him, alone and unable to let go of the past. Before Dinah can confront Joseph about her friend’s death, she learns that a mob from Abilene is coming to apprehend the outlaws and administer vigilante justice. The prisoners are put on a train to be moved to another jail, but the angry citizens surround the train outside town and force it to stop. A gunfight erupts, and the outlaws seize the opportunity to escape, but Sal is the only one who makes it out alive. Joseph pursues Sal. After a bloody confrontation, Sal pushes him into an empty well and leaves him for dead. When Dinah catches up with him, Sal gloats about Joseph’s demise. He tries to strangle her, but she uses the badge the marshal gave her as a weapon to gain the upper hand and then kills him. Dinah goes home with a broken heart. Vengeance hasn’t satisfied her, and she’s lost the love of her life. But Joseph isn’t dead. Though badly injured, he manages to climb out of the well and returns to her a changed man. Finally, Dinah finds it in her heart to forgive him. The two marry, and as the sun shines on a new day, they ride off to start their new life together.
speaking about “Squeeze Plays”
Squeeze Plays combines finance, intrigue and a closely detailed look and the rich and privileged in New York and London. Two powerful men, a bank chief executive and a tabloid publisher, are at odds over a loan that would keep the publisher afloat. A cunning Russian oligarch appears with an offer of a financial life raft to the publisher - a gambit uncovered by an intrepid financial reporter who senses a big story.
The novel is a character-driven tale that one professional reviewer called the best character-driven book he'd read in a year. The actions and foibles of the main characters - and strong female characters - are played out at length, and the squeeze plays include financial and sexual blackmail, sabotage and more. The settings are rendered in vivid detail, and the tone is often brisk and satirical, showing how vanity and hubris can humble the powerful.
