Synopsis
Song of Hummingbird Highway by K.M. Cookie is a novel about Terri, a woman from the American Midwest who follows her musician boyfriend, Reynold, to Belize. There, she enters a new world filled with Garifuna music, Mayan traditions, ancestral beliefs, and spiritual practices that challenge the beliefs she has grown up with. As Terri experiences difficult events and struggles to keep her family together, she begins to face painful experiences from her past and questions the choices she has made. When her son disappears, Terri begins a dangerous search through Belize, including its folklore and mysterious sacred caves. Along the way, she must confront betrayal, loss, fear, and secrets while drawing strength from her love for her child. Ultimately, Terri's journey becomes more than a search for her son. It becomes a journey of self-discovery, healing, resilience, and spiritual awakening.
