Sidonia's Seam Binding
Sidonia’s Seam Binding is the last book in the Sidonia’s Thread trilogy. Born in a displaced person’s camp, Hanna moves as an adolescent to a new part of her adopted city, Springfield, MA, while acting as her mother’s fashion model. She realizes how her family differs from others: She does not know her father or family.
As her mother leads a sober, secretive life, Hanna develops a subconscious duality: superiority as a beautiful model, inferiority for a lack of father and family. She imagines an alternate reality, omitting her existence, a joyful life for her mother.
Using quotes from Coats & Clark’s sewing book, Hanna describes her college nomination as Best Dressed Student. She marries young, then divorces, yet produces two children to extend her family. As a social worker serving the troubled inner city of Hartford and Manchester, CT, she is recognized as a leader.
Later, Hanna writes about life with her mother and discovers she has closely followed her mother's vision for her.
