This book will focus on Sally’s fight for survival as she finds herself stranded alone in a remote place. She has no idea of her location, and despite having a car at her disposal, she has never learned how to drive. At her dead fiancé’s insistence, she has no mobile phone with her, and none of her friends know where she is. Sally has no immediate family or close contacts who would miss her, so she knows that she can only rely on herself to get out of the situation she finds herself in. Desperate to survive, Sally learns, through trial and error, how to look after herself and her little dog as she quickly begins to understand the enormity of her situation and the danger she is surrounded by. What started as an adventure soon turned into a nightmare. Her fight for survival is heightened when Sally discovers secrets from her fiancé’s past, which she uncovers when looking through some of the things he has packed for their trip. Sally begins to unravel secrets and realises that Alex had never had any intentions of resuming his past life and that this was not the first time he had been to the cabin. Nor was this the first time a death had occurred here. Whilst slowly uncovering the truth, Sally sees Alex in a new light. She revisits some of the scenes from their short past and starts to question Alex’s need to control Sally, and when realisation dawns on her, Sally understands the hopeless situation she finds herself in. Initially, Sally’s desperation is too much, and she begins to concede that she will not survive. However, slowly, she begins to build on her strength and resolves not to allow herself to be defeated and to die in such a bleak place alone. After all, why is she grieving something that never was? Had Alex really loved her, or was everything built on a lie? Despite her steadfast resolve to find answers and to escape, Sally experiences days of despair when her strength threatens to abandon her as she battles the elements for survival. After spending days alone in the forest, her food and water supply dwindling fast, Sally comes across a lone walker who promises to help her. This is the light at the end of the tunnel that Sally had been praying for, and she is no longer alone and feeling desperate; she has a new resolve and strength about her as she and her friend make plans to get out of the forest safely. That was before Sally explained that she had experienced untold terror whilst alone and that she was convinced someone was stalking her. When Sally and her friend get closer to exiting the forest, the stalker ups his game, killing Sally’s friend before trying to kill her. Sally’s determination remains steadfast as she fights for survival and chooses to live!
