The Ways Our Bodies Age

Staying young forever is not an option for human beings. Even "super-agers", those who are still going strong into their 100's , eventually shed their human coil. With the general demographic aging we are now seeing , excluding Sub-Saharan Africa, worldwide, people need to know more about what bodily changes they can expect over time. As a family physician trained in both pediatrics and geriatrics, I've seen a need for a book which discusses the physiology of aging in easy to understand language, and made more interesting through the vehicle of personal stories .

Jim D'Ville's "Adventure In Failure" is a delightfully subversive collection of prose pieces that finds profound humor in life's most ordinary moments. With the sharp wit of a Mark Twain and the observational precision of a David Sedaris, D'Ville transforms everyday experiences—from laundromat visits to buying car insurance—into brilliant miniature meditations on modern existence. D'Ville's genius lies in his ability to find the extraordinary within the mundane.

Dreams and Mirrors

My book tells my story about the physical/emotional abuse and trauma I experienced growing up in a white suburban family with many social/economic advantages. Those advantages did not protect me. I stuffed the shame and fear I endured. At age 22 I had my first, terrorizing, screaming to wake nightmare, which lasted 35 years. I write how I went from my worthless self image to having a wonderful wife and daughter.
