Reviewed by Ryan Jordan for Readers' Favorite: Parents for Sale by Dr. Nicole Audet is a short audiobook that plays along with the children's book of the same name. It starts out with a section about Pistachio called Dog for Sale where the parents tell their children, Luke and Lucy, that they are too tired to keep their dog anymore and they are going to have to sell Pistachio. The children plead with their parents to let them keep their pet, but their parents are adamant in their decision. Luke and Lucy decide that it is a better idea to replace the sign with a 'Parents For Sale' sign and sell them instead because of how much they love Pistachio. This, of course, ends up teaching the children a lesson by the end of the story. The audiobook itself is amazing, and there is a lot of music and other elements in it (dog's breathing, barking, etc.) that really bring the story to life. It tells you when to turn pages in the storybook, so it is an excellent companion to the book itself for children to read and listen to at the same time. It has full voice acting across the entire family with different voices for each one of the characters, and feels like it has a very high production value. The music matches perfectly to the story, and it quickly draws the reader into the world. Parents for Sale by Dr. Nicole Audet is the perfect companion to the actual book and is a real winner in the audiobook category for families that love entertaining stories. The pictures are fantastic and the story itself is unique and clever. Well done!

Shut Up and Sing!

"Shut Up and Sing!"(The Story of a Tenor) is about a talented singer, Paul Veglia. Paul has interacted with many famous people in the course of his lifetime: Sophia Loren, Leonard Bernstein, Frank Sinatra, to name just a few. And that lifetime has included some astounding offers: a major role on opening night of the Metropolitan Opera, a six-figure recording contract with RCA-Victor, and a leading role in a major musical -- none of which, unfortunately, came to be. Even his marriage -- to the love of his life, the daughter of movie star Paul Henreid -- eventually turned into a nightmare, keeping him away from his children for many years and leading to a stay in a psychiatric hospital. Paul's problems can be attributed to various causes: his unhappy childhood, his overly trusting nature, just plain bad luck, or his inability8 to handle his successes, and his failures. Still, he always retained his optimistic outlook, largely due to a couple of qualities that never let him down: his disarmingly offbeat personality and his naturally beautiful voice, with its thrilling high notes. If only Paul -- an outspoken "smart-ass" -- had taken the good advice given to him by several people along the way: "Shut up and sing!"
